Animated demo of the Wall Push Up as the FitnessBruh app shows it

A wall is the gentlest place to begin pressing, and this wall push up counter follows your elbows while you lean in and push back. The phone stands upright a few steps away, so nothing goes on the floor.

Both arms are read together. There's no one-arm mode. Put your hands on the wall during the five-second countdown and the coach counts each rep out loud.

Phone setup

Stand the phone upright at chest height and step back a few steps, until your whole body fits in the frame.

Stand side-on to the phone, with your hands on the wall at shoulder height and your feet a step back from the wall.

How FitnessBruh counts it

The measurement is the angle at your elbow, from shoulder to elbow to wrist. Arms long and straight are the start, your chest moving toward the wall with the elbows bent is the far position, and pushing back to straight arms completes the rep.

Both arms are read together. There's no one-arm mode. The number is spoken as you push back to the start, and a lean that stops short of the far position isn't counted.

It starts once the camera has a steady view of your shoulders and hips, which you can give it during the five-second countdown.

FAQ

How far from the wall should I stand for wall push ups?

Put your hands on the wall at shoulder height and your feet a step back from it. The phone stays upright at chest height, a few steps back.

Does the phone go on the floor for wall push ups?

No. Unlike the floor versions, this one stands upright at chest height, a few steps back, with you side-on to it and your whole body in the frame.

Does a short lean count as a rep?

A lean that never reaches the far position isn't counted. Bring your chest toward the wall until your elbows are clearly bent, then push back to straight arms.
